Strawberries ripening in the field!

This is what we brought home:

So now, for the Jam part:
We washed the berries and de-stemmed(?) them.

Put them in a pot and cooked them up with some pectin and lots of sugar. We actually made about 5 batches because you're not supposed to do too much at once, something about it getting cooked thoroughly.

Poured our hot and runny Jam into jars, and let them cool/set for awhile.

Then we boiled them in a pot to seal them up, some of them settled weirdly.

One fell on the ground and broke. :(

And viola! Enough strawberry Jam to last us the year, hopefully. We've already gone through 3 jars, and it's only been a month and a half. We eat alot of toast at our house. No picture of all the jars, we were putting them away as they cooled to make room for more on the counter.

Love the photos! We did the same thing. But all our jam is already gone :(
I made strawberry jam a month ago, with no pectin.
Boiled it for about half an hour, and it still wasn't getting thick. Well, apparently it set up after it cooled.
You can stick a knife in it and the knife will stand straight up . . .
Also doubles very handily as glue!
Enjoy your jam!
